Just type in a keyword and see how many folks search for it per day, along with similar keyword suggestions of which you may have not thought to research.

    For a smaller company, a solid mixture of high-search-volume keywords and hyper-specific less-popular ones is best, as you’ll want to reach customers in your specific target market without being drowned out by more-established sites’ dominance of the most common search terms. Here’s a very basic example: if you’re selling a blouse, you want broad keywords like “boutique” (128k Google searches a day) and “blouse” (58k), but you’ll also want to focus in on smaller groups of searchers who could be likely to buy your specific blouse, perhaps with keywords like “peasant blouse” (9.8k), “silk blouse” (8.5k), “plus size blouse” (1.9k), “short sleeve blouse” (1.6k), “women’s clothing boutique” (1.1k), etc. With less-popular, more-specific keywords, you can cut through the dominance from larger companies and show up higher on a SERP (search-engine result page) by aiming at people looking for your specific kind of product. This drives up the amount of clicks you’re getting, which will, over time, help you cut through with the more broad search terms, as well.

  4. Social Media Marketing & Email Marketing: Each of these is an entire field unto itself and can be free or low-cost. Social media is an entirely free marketing strategy, unless you choose to hire a social media marketing agency. Email marketing can be easily overlooked, but its click-through rate of 3.71% is much higher than social media’s 0.58% engagement rate:
